Now that I’m entering the third trimester I thought I would update you all on how my second trimester went! I truly understand why it’s often referred to as the honeymoon phase of pregnancy now. I’d like to think our baby is contributing to the writing of this blog post because I can feel her tiny little kicks (or punches??) as I type.
When are you due?
February 8th 2019 but we might need to schedule a c-section for mid-January. I’ll keep you posted 🙂
How are you feeling?
The difference between first and second trimester energy levels was like night and day. I remember looking over at Joe and saying “Wow I almost forgot what it felt like to be a functioning human being”. While I still get winded more easily than before, I have had a TON of energy! Which comes in handy because I have to get up to pee all the time…even during the night. I prefer to think of it as training for nighttime feedings. 😉
Do you know what you’re having?
Yes, we’re having a little girl! You can see pictures from our gender reveal here.
Do you have a name picked out?
Lydia Rose Glemkowski. I love being able to call her by name and I feel like knowing we’re having a girl has only increased the bonding Joe, our families, and I have had with her while she’s an inside baby.
Have you started preparing the nursery?
We live in a one bedroom apartment (it feels more like a cozy cottage – we’re obsessed) so she will be in a bassinet in our room for awhile. Once we get more settled she’ll have her own spot in the living room.
I’ve definitely been craving more sweets. Which is strange because I can generally pass up sweets (unless it’s one of my few favorites). Joe has been very supportive when I decide mama needs a treat but has also been my backbone when I’m grocery shopping and everything looks good.
Do you feel a lot of kicks and movement?
I feel her more prominently and frequently with each passing week. Sometimes she’ll move completely over to one side and my belly will be noticeably lopsided. It’s made for some good laughs but it also feels so weird! Every time I feel her move it’s a true blessing. I love having a way to gauge how she’s doing in there. No Braxton Hicks yet….she’s doing that one sided thing again. She must’ve known I was telling all my online friends about her and wanted to show off 😉
Have you had to buy a lot of new clothes?
I’ve bought a few things but tried to get versatile pieces that would grow with me! Target has had some great finds and we recently went to Destination Maternity for a new winter coat (hello zip-in maternity insert!) and light jacket (expandable side panels). Both options can be worn post-pregnancy – SCORE!
This pregnancy has been fairly easy. I was fully anticipating all the horrible symptoms and was mentally preparing to go through it all but thankfully have had minimal discomforts and difficulties. I love having this time with Lydia during pregnancy but I’m also ready to hold her in my arms and chub her little cheeks.
Third trimester – let’s do this!
What was your second trimester like?
